Review by EZero8

General Information:
Title: RX-78-4[Bst] Gundam "G04"
Release Date: 2003
Suggested Price: 1000 yen
No. of Parts: 1 Gundam G04 + 14 parts
Plastic colors: white, blue, black, yellow-orange, dark grey, green
Gimmicks: hyper beam rifle, mega beam launcher + battery pack, beam sabers, shield, forearm beam guns

Head:
A traditional Gundam head, with a V-fin and all.  Very well articulated on the vents and Vulcan’s, and can turn 360 degrees as well as pivot 30 degrees upwards.  Eyes and cameras are colored in a nice, jade green.

Torso:
Again, very nicely articulated.  The panel lines are drawn on perfectly, so the torso doesn’t look like a mess.  It seems like Bandai had put an effort on improving the assembly and production lines for their MSiAs.  Vents and various parts are colored in well, and the backpack has slots to hold the unactive beam saber hilts.  Under the backpack, there are also a couple of protruding fuel tanks/thrusters.

Arms:
Arms are also very well done.  The shoulder armour seems to be missing a few panel lines, but they still look good without them.  Everything is nicely colored in, and the forearms feature these spiffy looking beam guns on them.  Nicely articulated, and there are no problems with posability.  There are holes on the forearm where the shield peg would go.

Legs:
The legs are, like the rest of the figure, great.  Everything was colored in perfectly, and they are sturdy and stable despite having to support such a top-heavy figure.  Thrusters and other things are well articulated.

Weapons, Gimmicks, & Accessories:
Hyper beam rifle- Standard look for most beam rifles. Fits snugly in the gun hand and looks cool when carried.  Nothing really special.

Mega Beam Launcher- The main gimmick of the toy is this gun.  It looks awesome, and it fits on the Gundam perfectly.  The gun also comes with a power cable and an external power source that can be mounted via peg and hole on the fuel tank things.  A big warning though is that it could be bent out of shape fairly easily, but no faults otherwise.

Beam sabers- Standard sabers with removable beam blade.  The blades are made with a thick and stiff translucent pink plastic, which is good in making sure they don’t bend out of shape.

Shield- A fairly plain looking shield that can be handheld, pegged on, or both simultaneously.

Forearm beam guns- Mounted on the forearms.  Other than to look cool, there's no real point to them.

Conclusion:
I really like this MSiA.  Hell, I really liked the design when I first saw it on the Encounters in Space video game, so I grabbed it when I had the chance.  It did not disappoint, and now I think I have a new favourite MSiA that quite easily knocked the GP01 Full Vernian from my #1 spot.  Great posability, well articulated, and there are hardly any flaws.  A recommended buy... and now I need to find this thing's brother figure, the G05.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
