Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta

 

After Zeta Gundam became a massive hit a sequel was now expected. This sequel came in the form of Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta or "Gundam ZZ" / "ZZ Gundam" as called by the fans. Airing in Japan in 1986-87 this 47 episode series follows the events after Zeta Gundam.

The Neo Zeon is now making a move to take over the Earth Sphere and with Kamille comatose and Char MIA the forces of the AEUG and in trouble. This is where Judau and his friends enter the scene and lend a hand. This series starts out as more of a comedy but roughly half way through takes a dramatic and darker turn. Much of the fanbase dislikes this series because of the light hearted beginning but most will agree that once you get to the second half it becomes a worth while addition to the franchise.
