Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.

Episode 8 - A Deadly United Front

Review by Nimrod

We start off with seeing Flit getting beaten by the new super armor UE mobile suit and Largan showing up to cover him while he heads back to get the new parts for the Gundam. That’s it as we hit the opening credits.

We’re back and we see more of Largan’s fight as he tries his best to hold off the UE while Flit gets his new weapon/parts for the Gundam.  Back on the Diva as we see the Age Builder spit out said new parts for the Gundam and hey, it’s Dique sitting with Vargas. Guess he didn’t leave the ship after all. As Flit returns with the battered Gundam we get to see the sequence where they change out the parts and it’s basically them removing the original arms and legs from the Gundam and attaching the news ones. Vargas declares that this is now the Gundam Titus. I’m sorry but how they make the parts fit together is just silly because it looks like how the model kits fit. I know marketing and all that but that’s just a bit much.

Anyway Back with Largan as we see where we ended last week with him just about to die at the hands of the UE when Flit in the Gundam Titus shows up. We basically see that this version of the Gundam is built for brute strength as it physically over powers the UE suit as well as easily deflecting its beam weapons because destroying it with a Beam Lariat, which is essentially a clothesline. As everyone celebrates Flit realizes he forgot about Boyage and the rest of the people he left to fight the other UE units.

Over to them and we see they’re not doing too well as the one UE mobile suit is easily destroying for the Euba and Zalam forces. The Gundam arrives and Flit again gives both people the speech about having to work together against the common enemy. Things go to the point where Boyage and the leader of the Euba forces finally realize they have to fight together against this enemy if either of them wants to survive. So they begin trying to fight together and managed to knock back the second UE mobile suit while Gundam fights the first and then shows off the Titus’ beam spikes in its knee to destroy the second. We also learn that the leader of the Euba forces is named Ract Elfamel at this point as well. At this point Flit gets an alert that three more UE mobiles suits have arrived in the city.

Over on the Diva we learn that said mobile suits are the same type as the one that Flit needed the Titus to beat and Grodek states that the Gundam can’t take three at once. Umm, didn’t Flit do exactly that back on the other colony?

In the actual city we see the UE units attacking and trying to get at the colonists but Flit arrives to stop one of them while Boyage and Ract direct the civilians to the shelters, much to their surprise that Zalam and Euba are working together. Then the second of the three UE units appear and Flit is stuck battling his foe while this new one seems to have Boyage and Ract beat. That’s until Woolf returns with his new mobile Suit: The G-Exes, which basically looks like a white Hyaku Shiki. The G-Exes defeats the Ue unit quickly and asks Flit to direct him to the other one while Flit deals with his foe.  We then watch as the G-Exes tracks down and battles its foe while learning it was built to be fast and powerful like the Gundam along with having a pair of super charged beam sabers that Woolf’s calls “Wolf Fangs”. While this is going on we see Flit finish off his opponent be showing beam spikes in the shoulder and ramming it into the Ue mobile suit.  We then head to the park in the colony where all the heroes meet up and we see Boyage and Ract agree that it’s not time for handshake yet but that it will come once the Ue is stopped.

We are then taken to a meeting between Grodek and Boyage and that’s when we learn of the name Yark Dole and that this Yark has access to lots of weapons and blueprints that should have been locked away or destroyed after the peace treaty between the Zalam and Euba was signed. We then head over to the mobile suit shop where Woolf got the G-Exes and learn that Yark Dole is expecting his new item as the episode ends with a black mobile suit in the shadows that looks like a UE mobile suit.

Nimrod’s Thoughts – Well, this was an improvement over last week. At least Woolf’s unit looks half way decent and the basic reasoning of the Titus makes sense. We also get moving on the story with the name of someone new. Why they couldn’t just show this last week instead of the nonsense that went on is beyond me. I guess they needed to pad the episode count or something.

Onto Episode Nine
