Episode 17 - Friendship, Love, and Mobile Suits

Review by Nimrod

Another week and we start off with a quick recap of last week’s episode before the opening credits. Now we’re back and while Asemu and his pals are back to work on their mobile suit for their competition we learn via flashbacks that it was Vargas who fired off the smokescreen and that the Gundam and Asemu’s role in it must be kept secret. That’s all that’s interesting as the rest is really stupid high school stuff, with an insert song to less, as we gloss over Zeheart’s mission as well (he’s to capture the Gundam for the Vagan) and his joining of Asemu’s crew since they deduce that Asemu’s home is where the Gundam is.

That’s the first half of the episode in a nut shell pretty much.

The day of the high school Ms Competition and Asemu gets called away as the dude helping Zeheart attacks the Gundam. Asemu races home to get to the machine while Vargas and the farm hands try to hold it off. All the while, Zeheart is off in his own MS, one that looks like Desil’s, observing and he spots Asemu racing to the scene and realizes that Asemu is the Gundam pilot. This is like a very bad super robot show.

Anyway, Asemu gets to the Gundam and after having some trouble with the Vagan unit; he gets the upper hand only for Zeheart to jump in. Vargas activates the smokescreen, confusing the enemies and allows Asemu to defeat one of them before Zeheart pins the Gundam to the ground. Romary shows up and it freaks out Zeheart so he fleas.

The episode ends with the Gundam being moved to a military facility that Flit has full control over and Zeheart talking with his man about remaining until they capture the Gundam.

Nimrod’s Thoughts – What a horrid episode and thus the short recap. This is one of the worst episodes of Gundam I’ve seen in all my days and that’s including sitting through Gundam SEED Destiny and Superior Defender Gundam. 2/3’s of the episode is high school crap and the Gundam barely appears. What a waste of time and effort. This better be the bottom because I can’t see how they can get any worse then this.
